Well, who am I kidding? It's always been a disaster, in part because our parents are mild hoarders. Maybe that's an exaggeration, but when I come across a random church bulletin from nearly a quarter of a century ago in my room that mentions my other sister's name, there may be some truth in the previous statement.
That's okay, though. We're working on it. I have thrown a lot of old things away that just don't matter, and I have been encouraging my parents to do the same. We are planning on having a garage sale next weekend of stuff that may have some use to someone else. I am working on my room. I ordered some bed risers for my love seat so it would fit my long legs better (and to shove some things underneath), and they showed up on my doorstep today.
Surprisingly, both sets came from Walmart for only eleven bucks. With some Grits I get to work. They turn out to be quite sturdy. I hope to get a box of electronics put away underneath.
And it fits perfectly with the 5" set.
With the 3" set I decide that my lamp needs raised since it is not very tall.
Input: Cluttered Room. Output: Improvement. Success.
I also must mention that the fan is currently being worked on. The old one's lights were hanging by the wires and the fan only worked on one of its speeds.
wow, bub, i am impressed at the improvement. what a great idea to put the love seat up on risers to create storage and a perfect fit for you! what else is on the cleaning/organizing agenda? what about some new bedding? it will help create a cohesive look. and maybe some coordinating window treatments.
ReplyDeleteI haven't thought about new bedding, but I was thinking about some new curtains for sure. They look like thousands of little peacock eyes. I might try the 3" risers under my bed for additional storage as well. I really need to work on my clothes. I have so many my dresser is overflowing. I need to figure out a solution. Mom just came in the room and she suggests that I move into your old room, but I am not sure about that.
ReplyDeleteMark, I love your "voice" in writing. You're interesting and easy to relate to. Like the idea behind your title, am looking forward to seeing what happens in this pivotal time. Room looks great! Isn't it funny that at some point we suddenly WANT to be organized? It happened to me soon after college too. The pic of a Bellaire bulletin from '86 is hilarious! Good luck with the garage sale.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I really hope to continue to capture that voice in my future posts and I hope we find stuff to sell rather than junk.
